Remote Access Using SNMP

Remote Access Using SNMP

You don’t remote into the device with SNMP, you send it snmpset commands to make changes to the config. I think that’s how Ciscoworks used to do it (didn’t use it long enough to get into its guts). Brocade Ironware did its work through SNMP. I have a program that only works on Cisco devices that I will use SNMP to get and set a config, mostly used it to get into devices that I didn’t have a password for or when I bungled the AAA config.

You have to use snmpget/snmpset in order to access the device via snmp, it’s not like telnet or ssh
